EU Structural Funds Raised for the Robotic Disinfection Solution

February 19, 2021

Rubedo Sistemos, a Lithuania-based pioneer company of mobile robotics solutions, received 360 914,63 EUR from the European Regional Development fund to develop the innovative robotic disinfection solution using UV radiation. The funded project (code: 01.2.1-LVPA-T-858-01-0023) is part of the 2014-2020 European Union Investment Fund Operational Programme's 1st priority Scientific Research, Experimental Development and Innovation implementation measure dedicated for COVID-19 pandemics.

The global pandemic has resulted in some of the most dramatic reductions in travel ever seen. Transport companies must give passengers the confidence that they can travel safely and disinfection is carried out in the most efficient way. The project aims to deliver an autonomous mobile robot (AMR) prototype capable of the disinfection of public transportation vehicles. The solution will help to contain mass transmission of SARS-CoV-19 virus in public transportation and thus make it safer for citizens.

The goal of the project is to design, manufacture, and verify that the AMR can actually access and disinfect passenger seats as well as the surrounding surfaces using UV radiation without human supervision. The value created by the solution: protection of workers against possible infection, reduced disinfection time with the least resources.

The successful implementation of the project will have a positive impact on the company's future business development as well as on Lithuania's economic development.
